Who am I?

Not knowing the complete answer to that question is something I have had to learn to be comfortable with. To borrow from Simone de Beauvoir:

“Self-knowledge is no guarantee of happiness, but it is on the side of happiness and can supply the courage to fight for it.”

So this is who I am: someone who is on the side of happiness.

I have been the crazy kid, the creative one, the small and quiet one, the storyteller, the sister, the carer, the best friend, the dreamer, the hippie, the office worker, the boss lady, the listener, the artist and mother.

I have also been someone who is trying to paper over the cracks, someone who is very good at pretending everything is fine just to fall apart 5 minutes later. Someone who has been dancing in the centre of the party while sensory overload is causing physical pain. Someone who tries to be everything to everyone and fails every day. All of these still reside inside of me to create a colourful kaleidoscope of a person. Forever changing, an ongoing project.

I am me.

The journey to ‘Me’’ didn’t come easily, freely or simply, but it’s been one hell of a beautiful ride. I found myself again. And I can help you find yourself too.

The first and hardest step is to reach out.
